DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Application Specialist, Imaging, primary responsibility is the IT hardware infrastructure and modalities in the Imaging (Radiology, Cardiology, Oncology) space. The secondary responsibility is as the backup for the applications in this area. This individual coordinates the technical aspects of core and desktop infrastructure, modalities, and interfaces. The Application Specialist, will support the end users in the design, development, and troubleshooting of the hospitals EHR. The role requires working closely with the Radiology, Cardiology, and Oncology depts.; including end-users and physicians. The role requires working with vendors and reviewing specifications to ensure a high performing and high reliable in close partnership with the hospitals Imaging Information Systems Specialist and IT Analyst. The Applications Specialist must know and stay current on healthcare regulations including but not limited to HIPAA, ARRA, HFAP, and others that may be specific to Imaging. This person must exhibit superior human relation skills and will work to continuously improve proficiency and knowledge in the areas that they support. This job description contains most of the duties and responsibilities for which an employee will be held accountable. Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS


Professional/Educational
Bachelors degree preferred with a major in Computer Sciences or related healthcare field.
Three to five years of experience with Healthcare Imaging Systems for Cardiology and Radiology; preferably Agfa Enterprise Imaging and PowerScribe 360 voice recognition.
Experience with modalities such as ECHO, x-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, etc.
Experience in working with an EHR, preferably Meditech or eClinical Works.
Experience with healthcare imaging practices, processes, and workflows.
Experience with HIM systems.
Experience with PC's, server, and connectivity as it relates to Imaging systems.
Experience in workflow analysis.
Experience working with end users in creating business requirements.
Strong process improvement, project management, communication, training, decision making and troubleshooting skills.
Experience with radiation oncology systems and sleep lab systems is a plus.
Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus.
