Primary Function:
The Project Manager is responsible for the organization, planning, and supervision of all activities for shop fabrication and field erection for structural steel projects.  He/she assures that the project meets the engineering plans and specifications and the work is accomplished within budget and on schedule.  They directly supervise safety, quality assurance, quality control, administrative, engineering, shop and field Foremen.  They review and approve all billings to the client, coordinate efforts with engineering, operations, procurement, inspection, and client personnel.   They implement and monitor all management reports and procedures in accordance with the corporate guidelines.  They monitor schedules, changes and deviations in work scope and quality.  The Project Manager generally works closely with client representatives; therefore, they need to project a professional attitude and appearance at all times.  They promote . in a positive manner, developing a partnering relationship with the client to reduce the client’s costs, and improve safety and reliability.
The normal work environment will be in an industrial facility where exposure to outdoor weather conditions is possible and where proper PPE is required for a variety of potential hazards.

Job Requirements:

Qualification Guidelines:
Minimum of 5 years project and estimating management experience in the Steel Industry or related field doing similar type work.
Candidates with a related college degree and less than 5 years relevant management and/or supervisory experience may also qualify.
Experience Steel fabrication and erection projects worth up to $10MM and up to 15 employees is preferred.
Thorough knowledge of all aspects of AISC standards for steel fabrication, construction management principles (technology, equipment, methods) and industry specific challenges.

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
College degree or completed coursework preferred

Intermediate computer software skills (MS Word, Excel and Outlook) required
Ability to negotiate, interpret and understand contracts
Ability to develop Change Orders
Ability to interpret and complete project cost tracking reports
Ability to coach, advise and mentor subordinates
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and time management skills required.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with client representatives, field support staff and various department staff members
Ability to identify problems and make difficult decisions in a timely manner using sound judgment.
Strong administration skills (policy and procedure interpretation and compliance) required.
Leadership – Possess excellent leadership skills and have the ability to effectively lead employees in the fabrication and erection process.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow up
Basic estimating, scheduling and budgeting skills required.

Must comply with  drug and alcohol policy.
This position may require extended periods of sitting behind a desk, performing tasks on a computer.
Daily office tasks will require periods of walking and standing and may require some light lifting of boxes or office equipment.
