Job Description:

Under general direction; performs work in all aspects of traffic engineering for the Will County Division of Transportation; Performs traffic engineering analysis. Investigates, researches and recommends improvements to high accident locations or sections of roadways and intersections with long delays to traffic. Develops, manages and oversees the Traffic Signal and Street Light maintenance contract on the County Highway System. Recommends replacement, redesign or retiming of traffic signals as required. Collects and coordinates information for litigation involving traffic related matters. Performs, assigns and reviews analysis of traffic studies for traffic signal systems. Prepares exhibits and presentations related to highway traffic programs. Recommends items for inclusion into Division of Transportation annual and long-range improvement plan. Implements portions of the County’s ITS Plan. Coordinates the work of consultants to implement traffic improvement projects. Manages the collection and analysis of data and prepares responses to requests from Township Highway Commissioners such as for traffic control devices and speed limit studies. Performs related work as required.

Job Requirements:

Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois Bachelor’s Degree in Civil
Engineering from an accredited College or University, and five (5) years of traffic
Engineering or related experience, or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Must possess and maintain in good standing, a valid Illinois driver’s license.
