Job Description:

This position reports directly to the Chief Planning Officer and directly supervises the Utility Technician, the Senior Project Manager - Fiber and Utilities, the Overweight/Over Dimension Permit Technician, the Utility IGA Coordinator and various consultants. The incumbent provides leadership and technical support to his/her staff to manage and improve performance and efficiency.

This position is accountable for coordinating with various Departments within the Tollway to ensure that plans, projects, permits and potential impacts associated with Tollway projects or third-party projects are fully evaluated and in compliance with applicable policies, procedures and authorizations. Tollway Departments frequently consulted include; Engineering, Facilities, Information Technology, Land Acquisition and Management, Legal, and Roadway Maintenance.

This position is responsible for implementing Tollway policy as it relates to utility occupations as required by the Toll Highway Act, providing leadership and strategic direction over the Tollway’s fiber optic system, and implementing and coordinating the Tollway’s Overweight and Over Dimension Truck Permit program. The successful candidate is organized, comfortable with handling databases, has a mind for improving reporting systems and has excellent communications skills.

The position works directly with utility company representatives, municipal and governmental engineers, State and Local agencies, engineering consultants and developers of adjacent property and must work closely with the staff from the Authority’s Legal Department, Maintenance Department, Engineering Design and Construction Divisions and Land Acquisition Unit to assess the impacts and viability of utility relocations and/or permit requests, as well as assist in the preparation and negotiation of agreements.

Job Requirements:

Education (Required)

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field of study or the equivalent of years of education and/or experience in a related field

Experience (Required)
Ten (10) years of experience in utility design and construction or a related field
Five years of managerial experience.
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and work effectively with minimal supervision while adhering to strict deadlines in a fast-paced complex environment
Ability to maintain confidentiality
