Job Description:

Position: Manager of Events and Programs

Reports to: President

Classification: Full Time/Exempt

Specific Duties:
* Oversee planning and logistics for on-site and off-site of Chamber meetings and events, attend all chamber events to ensure registration, check-in, payment collection and set up and tear down are handled. Motivate and recruit volunteers.

* Communicate directly with chamber leadership throughout the event planning process to learn requirements and goals.

* Establish and secure sponsorships for each event and follow through on fulfilling sponsorship investments. Manage member, sponsor and Chambers expectations with clear and persuasive communication.

* Maintain an annual calendar of events and ensure timelines are being met.

* Develop sources of non-dues revenue.

* Create projected income/expense reports for each event.

* Produce marketing material, invitations, thank you correspondence to members, potential members, sponsors and volunteers.

* Maintain and monitor chamber social media accounts ensuring strong consistent messaging.

* Each Chamber staff member takes on the role as liaison with a Chamber subgroup which includes arranging monthly meetings, securing board positions, assist in the groups events and other duties as needed.

* Each Chamber staff member is responsible for administrative duties associated with their duties.

* Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Position Requirements and Qualifications: Self-motivated, results oriented individual with the ability to work well independently as well as team oriented.

Must show demonstrated success in events management, excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in managing social media and marketing software platforms, exceptional customer service skills and professional mature attitude with ability to remain calm under pressure.

Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for Chamber events to support the organization. This includes special events and annual events such as but not limited to the Annual Award Dinner, Education Banquets, Annual Golf Outing and Festivals, Banner Program, Monthly Luncheons, and others as they are announced.

This Manager has responsibility for each event including organization, preparation, promotion, budgeting, and logistics. Develop and maintain member relationships.

Other Requirements:

• This is an in-person position at the Chamber’s office at 116 N Chicago Street, Joliet, Illinois. Light local travel is required with mileage reimbursement provided.
• Some lifting and physical activity required at times in preparation of events.
• 3-5 years’ experience in event and program planning.
