Job Description:

What you’ll do:
• Conduct manuscript reviews, which includes identifying qualified instructors, gathering and sending review materials to the reviewers, managing deadlines for multiple reviewers of several projects, and helping the editors assemble and analyze reviewers’ feedback.
• Assist with calling reviewers and completing internal back-end administration processes, ensuring that reviewers are paid and have a pleasant experience with Goodheart-Willcox.
• Use spreadsheets and databases to track administrative and editorial activities.
• Assist with market research and internet-based photo research.
• Maintain the company’s title management database system.
• Perform basic copyediting and proofreading as needed in a digital environment.
• Prepare digital manuscript copy and art sheets according to stylizing and formatting guidelines for production.
• Create digital files for glossaries and tables of contents.
• Run reading-level tests.
• Track text and supplement corrections for reprints and process reprint panels.
• Perform quality assurance on software product ancillaries such as PowerPoint, ExamView

Job Requirements:

What you’ll bring:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Degrees in English, publishing studies, or journalism preferred.
• Experience in college writing center, peer editing, or university publishing center preferred.
• Strong organization, time management, and multitasking skills.
• Excellent knowledge of basic English language skills needed to perform editing tasks, specifically, sufficient grammar and usage skills to edit manuscripts and create text copy.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Windows.
