Job Description:

Responsible for providing support before, during, and after rentals and activities at Four Rivers Environmental Education Center in Channahon. Responsibilities include set-up, tear-down, light janitorial and interior building cleaning as well as hosting rentals during the weekday, weeknights, and weekends. Duties require assisting with public programs held at Four Rivers or at other preserves/facilities, and requires working independently, interacting with visitors, and operating a cash register in the Four Rivers gift shop. Rentals take place inside the building and at the nearby Four Rivers Shelter. Rentals may include corporate meetings, weddings, and private parties with up to 200 guests.

1. Using floor plan from the RM and GSA, complete event set-up including tables, chairs, audio/visual equipment (A/V), and beverage service for rentals at Four Rivers and the Four Rivers Shelter.
2. Respond to on-the-spot requests during rentals in a timely and professional manner.
3. Perform light janitorial tasks before, during, and after events such as mopping, restroom clean-up, and trash removal.
4. Perform light house-keeping such as dusting and sweeping of classrooms and grand hall, cleaning windows, and vacuuming.
5. Conduct light clean-up around the exterior of Four Rivers and the Four Rivers Shelter to ensure grounds are ready for events
6. Set-up event directional signage inside the building and within the preserve and incoming roadway.
7. Host rental events scheduled at Four Rivers including trouble shoot A/V equipment, address any issues that may arise during scheduled event, and secure the building after the rental.
8. Assist with maintaining the catering kitchen, including equipment and supplies, according to health department regulations
9. Staff facility, greet visitors, answer and direct incoming telephone calls, distribute brochures to visitors, answer questions about the facility, preserve, and District.
10. Use POS and cash drawer to complete sale of gift shop items.
11. Purchase / order facility supplies and equipment; may require off-site pick-up / purchase of items.
12. Assist with planning, set-up of PPE public programs and events at Four Rivers or other District sites.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
Ability to balance customer requests within time of event (last minute/unforeseen changes) and deal with emergency situations.
Reliable and able to host events on their own.
Ability to work long days, late evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Friendly and able to provide excellent customer service.
Have a clear understanding of customer rental events and their needs.
Ability to operate office equipment: POS, printer, phone
Must be proficient with computers for generating documents and emails, operating reservation system (ActiveNet)
Effective communication skills, both orally and in written form.
Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment and perform appropriate food service sanitation practices
