Job Description:

We are looking for a Machine Operator/Assembler to set up, maintain and operate machinery. You’ll ensure the interminable and efficient running of lead-acid battery production. A great machine operator is reliable and able to work with attention to detail while keeping safety standards in mind at all times. On-the-job training is a good way to discover how to do the job better, so you should have willingness to learn and improve. Being a team player is essential since all tasks will require close collaboration with co-workers. Quality control will be an important part of this position, requiring visual inspection of dry battery cells. The goal will be to ensure that production procedures will be carried on smoothly to maximize efficiency and profits.

Job Requirements:

• Follow all health and safety rules as they relate to company policy and local, state and federal regulations
• Maintain safe operation of machinery, including machine guards and equipment
• Help facilitate a work environment that supports a strong health and safety culture
• Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and highly motivated for quality excellence
• As a team player, work directly with management and co-workers to help drive improvements in the production process
• Help promote an environment of continuous improvement and innovation in line with lean thinking and maintenance best practice
• Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle
• Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed)
• Continuously feed battery cells weighed at less than 50 lbs. with varied dimensions not to exceed 12” x 6” x 28” (L x W x H) by pulling into semi-automated heat seal machines and pushing them down the assembly line conveyor system
• Operate machinery while standing on ergonomic mats for at least 8 hours per work shift
• Perform visual inspections of the assembly work being performed to make sure that it is of the best quality possible
• Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools for quality control purposes
• Test operation of machines periodically, check seals of battery cells
• Fix issues that might occur during the shift, such as malfunctioning of machinery
• Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws
• Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
• Maintain activity logs
• Communicate with direct supervisor of any issues related to quality control

Schedule:
• 10-hour shift
• Monday to Friday, 4:00pm – 2:00am
• Night shift
• Overtime

Education:
• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:
• Manufacturing: 1 year (Preferred)

Language:
• Bilingual (English/Spanish Preferred)
