Job Description:

Keeps Highway Maintenance Shop and Administration Building in a clean and orderly condition, performing any combination of required duties. Basic Characteristics: FLSA/PELRA included or Non–Exempt Employee. Supervisory Relations: Responsible to the assigned to the County Engineer, through the Maintenance Administrator and intermediate supervisors, as directed or required. Transports equipment, material, parts, supplies and tools and other items, in support of Shop and other personnel: Arranges and maintains work areas in a neat and orderly manner; Cleans area, machinery, tools and other equipment Salvages scrap and waste items and insures proper storage; Disposes of properly discarded items and materials; Polices work areas and surrounding buildings and grounds to maintain free of debris; Washes and polishes vehicles: Cuts lawns, trims vegetation and washes windows; Issues parts, tools and other items as needed and maintains inventory and records; Performs basic maintenance and repair of all hand tools and other small equipment, such as chain saws, pumps and other similar items. Capable of performing the duties of Maintenance Worker, Building and Grounds Maintenance Assistant, Janitor and similar functions, and may be required to do so; Assumes duties of the Highway Dispatcher, during that person’s breaks, meal periods or any other absence; May operate powered equipment; Operates snow removal equipment; Performs other related duties, as assigned or required.

Job Requirements:

High school graduation or equivalency preferred. Prior experience as Maintenance Worker, Building and Grounds Maintenance Assistant, Janitor or similar background required. Possess courteous and positive telephone etiquette. Possession of a valid CDL Class A or B Driver’s License with Air Brakes endorsement required. Must be able to lift, push, pull and move material/equipment weighing up to 50 pounds routinely. Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions
