Job Description:

Illinois Marine Towing Welder is responsible for all aspects of welding work.

Qualified candidates must be safety conscious and able to work in a physically demanding environment. All applicants must have favorable work references and a valid driver's license, and must pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen.

Welders must be able to obtain a valid TWIC.

The main geographic targets for applicants include Lemont, Channahon and the Chicagoland area.



Primary Job Duties

Performing all aspects of welding work including prepare/check equipment.
Welding of steel barges and ships.
Stick welding-6010, 7018 and 7024.
Safely operate heavy equipment and follow all safety policies and procedures.
Perform other jobs within the shipyard as required to assist in meeting business demands.
Staying compliant with all regulatory bodies as it applies to the work that is being completed and with all safety rules and policies.
Perform other duties as required and directed by management.
Carry out the Business Philosophy, Code of Conduct, and mission of Canal Barge Company, Inc.
This position will involve travel to multiple locations.

Job Requirements:

Experience/Education

High school education or equivalent required.
Minimum 2 years of experience in stick welding, prior ABS certification a plus but not required.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and follow instruction.
Physical Requirements

Physical requirements of the job include climbing ladders and stairs, repetitive bending and stooping, lifting heavy marine equipment, and lifting objects from various levels ranging from 10-100 pounds.
