COVID-19 – Masks will be required to be worn while driving and inside the building. Temperature checks will be taken daily.

OUTCOMES

To raise the funds needed for the services provided to individuals and families by The Metropolitan Division of The Salvation Army. Represent The Salvation Army at the Red Kettle Stand and ring the bell at assigned locations as scheduled.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Public Donor Engagement
a. Bring the spirit of the Christmas season by making eye contact, greeting and thanking them. Wishing the public a “Merry Christmas”, “God Bless You”, “Happy Holidays”, or other appropriate greetings.

b. Gently and friendly engage public donors to consider making a donation.

c. Ring the bell in a respectful manner.

d. Direct any public mission questions to Corps phone number or Divisional 800 phone number.

e. Be a brand ambassador for The Salvation Army by exemplifying care, compassion and gratefulness to the public.

2. Finance

a. Responsible to keep kettle donations safe. Inform supervisor when kettle becomes too full, damaged, etc. and request for a new kettle.

b. Monitors the kettle throughout their shift – except during approved breaks.

Instruct donors to place monetary donation directly into the kettle without handling the donation.
Maintain equipment in good working order: bell, kettle and kettle stand.
3. Appearance

a. Wear appropriate outerwear (coat, hat, scarf, gloves, etc.) for the weather.

b. Maintain The Salvation Army uniform aprons’ cleanness and appearance.

c. Maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance.

4. Other Duties as Assigned

Job Requirements:

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position is supervised by the Corps Officer and/or an assigned supervisor. Each Bell Ringer must perform their responsibilities within established policies and guidelines.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

Individual will be evaluated on how effectively they interact with the public and the amount of donations collected. There will also be a review of how well policies and procedures are followed, as well as the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

· A High School degree or GED is preferred but not required.

· Experience working with the public, customer service, and/or sales desired.

COMPETENCIES

· A motivated self-starter

· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

· The ability to utilize sound judgment in decision making.

· Responsible for items assigned (kettles, equipment, etc.) to your care.

· Flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.

· A willingness to promote the mission of The Salvation Army.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is required to do moderate physical work and must be able to lift 15 pounds.
In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to do some bending, squatting, reaching, lifting, climbing, and standing for hours at a time, up to three – four hours prior to receiving a break.
May be based outside in all kinds of weather.
