Job Description:

Under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction and the Director of Teaching and Learning the Program Coordinator-English Language Arts plans, directs, and coordinates the development and implementation of the English Language Arts curriculum for grades PK-8 providing customized services and resources to support literacy.

Job Requirements:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR CERTIFICATION:

A. or M.S. in Education;
Professional Educator License (P.E.L.) S.C.G.E. and Administrative Endorsement Required;
Reading Specialist certification or 18 semester hours in reading preferred;
English Language Arts endorsement or 18 semester hours required;
Five or more years of successful teaching experience at the elementary level preferred;
Demonstrated facilitation experience in providing adult professional development preferred;
Comprehensive knowledge about the content and methodology of balanced literacy instruction required;
Demonstrated experience with RtI and tiered instruction required;
Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills required;
Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis and its use to improve teaching and learning;
Comprehensive knowledge of the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts required; and
Experience in the development and implementation of English Language Arts curriculum and programs.
