BASIC FUNCTION:
To assist case managers by performing several duties involving the management of clients' day-to-day functions.
This position has shared responsibilities for agency site/locations at Chicago Village, Roosevelt Square Village and Lockport Village. The position is part-time though the schedule requires flexible hours and reliable transportation to allow for scheduling and overseeing activities for Villages during hours convenient for the children, which may often be evenings and weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports to the child welfare supervisor. Works as part of the case management team to assist in providing service to youth and birth parents. Tasks may vary according to family needs, from providing a variety of clerical duties requiring basic knowledge of computer systems; frequent transportation of youth in agency and/or personal vehicle and interaction with children, foster parents, birth parents and/or relatives. Maintains flexibility to adjust work schedule (shift) according to the needs of the program when necessary including some weekends and holidays.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with foster care team to provide services to youth and families
• Transportation of youth to family visits, school, home, medicals, therapy etc.
• Supervision and documentation of parent/child visits and sibling visits
• Assist children and youth with activities of daily living and personal care
• Act as role model to children and youth through assigned mentoring activities
• Accompany caseworkers on home visits when necessary
• Maintains and submits required documentation according to Agency/DCFS policies and procedures
• Assist with interoffice communication needs
• Assist with filing, mail preparation, pickup and distribution and other office procedures
• Provides reception coverage as needed
• Participate in agency meetings and training
• Participate in the development and implementation of continuous quality improvement activities as


Job Requirements:

Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 2 years of experience providing educational experience services to youth who present behavioral, educational and emotional challenges
• Social service, advocacy, or educational experience; working with foster care or similar programs and services a plus
• Ability to pass DCFS required criminal background check including CANTS/SACWIS and SORS
• Valid Illinois driver’s license with acceptable driving record; insured and reliable transportation, as the position will be split between Villages and will be involved within the communities
• Willingness to travel within the community and to the various agency sites
• Ability to work flexible hours including evening and weekends. Schedule may regularly be later mornings to evenings on weekdays and weekends depending on activities scheduled. Schedule to be finalized with the supervisor
• Sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients and staff
• Ability to relate to the Agency staff and to the public in a courteous and professional manner
