We'd like to talk to you about joining our progressive workplace as a Studio Services Specialist in Fountaindale Public Library's premiere digital media lab - Studio 300

Part-time Position: This part-time, 25 hr/wk position, including day, evening and weekend hours, requires assisting our library patrons with their projects - audio/video production, photography, graphic design, web, music, and more. You'll connect and troubleshoot computer and media production equipment and develop and lead training programs for our patrons.

Duties: Provides consistent, gracious and friendly service to internal and external customers. Understands and enforces District policies and procedures while safeguarding intellectual freedom and patron privacy. Demonstrates an understanding of, and respect for, the diversity of customers, coworkers and supervisors, and the community as a whole. Provides training for patrons and staff of all ages in the correct operation and effective use of digital media software and audio/video equipment. Plans, prepares, and conducts programs. Monitors and secures the use of audio/video equipment, computers, Studio spaces and supplies. Diagnoses equipment and software-related problems and performs preventative and routine maintenance. Schedules appointments for use of public workstations, production spaces, and training. Assists with print and audio/video productions that highlight and promote District activities. Collects daily statistics and prepares monthly departmental statistical reports. Keeps informed of current information and trends and participates in professional development activities. Performs general duties including stocking, inventory, cleaning and organizing. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Requires multi-media, audio & video production, photography, computer graphic skills, other related field expertise acquired through completion of Media Production/TV Certificate, or 2 year Associate’s or high school diploma with additional specialized training.
Experience: At least 3 years of current & related experience in related field required. Media training & customer service experience preferred.
Skills: Strong knowledge Mac & Windows operating systems & hardware.
Strong knowledge & experience with audio, video, animation, photography, illustration, music, related consumer & professional digital media content creation, software (Adobe Creative Cloud, iLife, etc.) & production equipment.
Ability to effectively adapt to & integrate new technologies.
Ability to troubleshoot minor problems with computer hardware, software & peripherals.
Ability to incorporate technology into programming & other public services.
Ability manage & prioritize multiple tasks & Ability to exercise reasonable & independent judgment & discretion.
DIY Maker skills & coding experience a plus.
Communication: Communicates effectively in English, both orally & writing.
Speaking skills in other languages, particularly Spanish, a plus.
Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationship with staff & public.
Ability to stay calm & effective in difficult situations & empathize and relate to patron needs.
Ability to translate technology into basic methodologies while training patrons & staff.
Strong public presentation & instructional skills.
Physical Requirements: The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, ability to push carts of library materials weighing 50-100 pounds daily.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a typical library environment.
