Job Description:

Performs first piece, in-process and final inspection and measurement to close tolerances ensuring conformance to customer and company specifications. Work from product drawings and inspection documents. Set up gauges and equipment, and record trends and findings. Participate in inter-departmental communications.

Essential Functions:

1. Determine disposition and capability of finished product by collecting, classifying, analyzing and interpreting production and quality data and judging product acceptability in comparison to specifications.
2. Maintains quality assurance operations by following quality assurance policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
3. Evaluates reliability of source information by weighting raw data; reviewing parts history; organizing results for analysis.
4. Presents data by computer readouts, graphs, charts, tables, written reports or other methods.
5. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
6. Resolves testing problems by checking measuring equipment and notifying supervisor of problems.
7. Records outcomes of measurement results by collecting and entering data.
8. Maintains safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, regulations.
9. Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
10. Maintains company reputation by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and government regulations by collaborating with other members of the quality team and maintaining a professional, ethical demeanor.
11. Prepares shift meeting information by identifying and describing problematic production, equipment and characteristics.
12. Contributes to team, company and QMS goals by initiating continuous improvement, accomplishing related results as required and working effectively with other employees and departments.
13. Maintains acceptable attendance standards by reporting to work everyday as expected and scheduling time away in advance of absence when necessary.
14. Other duties required to meet company needs as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Skill and Educational Requirements

1. Understand statistical process control (SPC).
2. Read and understand product drawings/solid models and GD&T.
3. Understand and use a variety of measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, etc.).
4. Math abilities including addition, subtraction, use of fractions, decimals and conversion of metric to inches.
5. Good communication skills including the ability to receive oral and written instruction and relay quality issues to others.

Minimum Physical Requirements

1. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds occasionally during the workday.
2. Twisting, bending, leaning and stooping frequently during the workday.
3. Ability to work in a shop environment – continuous exposure to loud noises, dust, solvents and oils.
